About the Project

This blog is the hub for updates from the #digbromsgrove Community Archaeology project in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.

In 2013 we ran a community excavation on on the site of the former Market Hall in St John Street. You can find out more about what we found in the excavation report.

This year, we'll be looking up and around as we look at the buildings and characters of Bromsgrove's past. For this year's Heritage Open Days we'll be displaying posters in the windows of some of Bromsgrove's historic buildings, with archive photographs and information on the colourful and varied history of the town centre.

The material for the exhibition has been painstakingly researched by local historians Jenny Townshend and Julian Hunt, who have been searching the archives for historic maps, photographs and documents to shed light on the people and places that have brought life to the town over the centuries.

The exhibition will be up in High Street shops from the 11th September. We'll be on hand in the High Street on Saturday 13th September with lots of information and a quiz for young history detectives. The exhibition will move to Bromsgrove library on 26th September.
